My wife took off four additional days for a long weekend just to devote some serious time to sewing. She is a quilter, too, and just loves doing it.

It's been a rough week here, so I'm starting the long weekend with frosty, adult beverages at happy hour in the driveway after work today. The rest of the weekend will be spent on the bike. Saturday, I'll support one of my best friends as he performs on the motorcycle drill team during an open house event at a local HD dealership. Then, on Sunday I'll ride in the wing position to lead a group of 50-100 bikers (one of many groups) in an annual ride known as Rattle the Runway (Dulles Airport) in memory of the lives lost on 9/11. Monday, I plan to just do some relaxing.

Am hoping to finish my reports so I can take some time off to go to New York to see some foliage sometime next week. Enjoy the labor day holidays everyone! And since I am afraid that if I "blink" this website will disappear again, I will probably log in on a limited time only.

Meeting tonight to discuss the neighbor's new fence plans...which include taking our fence down...should be fun, so we figured it might be easier over happy hour.
Little bit of work...lots of sleep.

Color me envious, Gidget. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've been on my bike this summer. Sad.

Well, I am truly sorry to hear that, Paul. I usually spend every weekend riding at least a portion of each day, anyway. However, this weekend I'm afraid it's a necessity, as my pick-up was involved in a hit and run Wednesday night and is out of commission until the insurance companies can work out an arrangement and agree to provide a rental car for me to use in the interim.

Friday September 11. Time for some reflection.
    And wine and pizza.
Summer is lingering up here in Maine so we'll get some good outside time on the lake.

Our hot weather finally broke here in Southern Illinois with the last two days of storms. We're looking for a high/low of 66°/46°F tomorrow! I'll take it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I attended the unveiling of the Miles Davis Memorial statue in Alton, IL this past Saturday. What an awesome event. Got to chat a bit with the sculptor, Mr. Preston Jackson. What an incredibly talented and humble man. His work for this project is incredible.

Spent the weekend at a remote location with limited telephone and internet connection. I enjoyed the last days of summer.

If you ever go to Upstate New York for skiing, or for antique shopping, I recommend the Van Winkle Inn. They have great breakfast and serve excellent wine.

Hudson is an antique shopper's paradise! Lots of good restaurants, too.

Got to back to "The Ranch" this weekend...what an unexpected treat.

To the discussion somewhere on here regarding quality without a "Quality System"...Black Mountain Ranch, Colorado.
Was on horseback within three hours after arrival and wish I was still there...gotta wait all the way til June.

Was there Saturday into Sunday before being in Denver/Golden the past two days.
Sitting in DIA now waiting on a late flight, dreaming of being back on a horse instead of cleaning out emails...

I went to Tivoli and had a good brunch at that hotel. Indeed Hudson had some good reataurants. But I have to come back to reality.
