During one of our transition to IATF 16949 audit, the auditor from LRQA at the Far East made this comment: " As IATF 16949 request, we should request all supplier for OEM products to pass the IATF 16949." The “supplier quality manual ”has mentioned the same thing, but we have assessment based on risk, have prioritized our suppliers and have their ISO9001:2015 on hand. There is a plan to developed the suppliers to be certified to the Automotive standards but it will not happen next year. Its a five year plan. The misinterpretation of this clause will have a dire consequence to clause 8.6.4. when we provide feedback to the delivery performance of this auditor. I would like to see them find other things than clause 8.4.2.3.

There is no requirement for suppliers to be IATF. They need to be ISO 9001, with the "objective" of becoming IATF certified. They then lay out a course of action to get there. Unless the supplier is giving you some type of problem, there are probably much more important things to look at.

There a change to the clause as describe in the IATF 16949 sanctioned interpretation. We need to perform risk analysis to determine the supplier QMS certification requirement.

Thank you. I have a copy of this sanctions. Still not convince of the auditors interpretation of this clause. I will wait for further development.
