    It'll never happen and, if it did, I suspect it would be a replication of being a "Lead Auditor" in the way that has gone off the rails. Who will accredit it? Clearly, the ANAB and the like are not doing an effective job!

    I'm sure you are right that it will never happen. So you and I will continue to respond to implementers' questions and argue over whether or not to do something because ISO says "shall" or not.

    As you know, ANAB is unable to turn us all into perfect cutouts of your ideal auditor image. The sampling problem is part of it. Some registrars are better than others in training and oversight of the CB audit process, but I have seen some pretty ghastly performance by independent auditors from good registrars too. They will hopefully get corrected, but customer dissatisfaction will be needed to engage the correction process and once you've made your customer unhappy the damage is done.

    And so your wish for homogeneity in what you view as competence and effectiveness will never be granted, in part because effectiveness is in itself a subjective term.
