First 9001, after that 10006?

    Hi all
    Could someone share experiences with iso 9001 and 10006?
    To use 10006, it must be implemented first 9001? Or can run alone?
    What are the benefits to use 10006 supported by 9001?
    Is a company managing engineering and construction projects.
    My question is focused in project management activities.

    DO you have copies of 10006? You don't necessarily have to have ISO 9001, to ensure the project quality activities are covered. It helps, of course. (I'm not talking of certification btw)

    At what extent 9001 could improve the 10006 activities?
    What issues or gaps are missing in 10006, that 9001 could complete?
    or what additional benefits it may have an organization by adding 9001?

    Think of it this way:

    ISO 9001 defines a QMS for a whole organization
    ISO 10006 defines a QMS for a project, usually in a Project Quality Plan.

    Of course, if you know what ISO 9001 is, you'll (should) understand the relevance of a PQP. But the two are mutually exclusive.
