    Hi Folks

Our contract with our client has been renewed, but the contract number has changed. Now all the document numbers will need to be updated (the company I am with like to use contract numbers in the document number to differentiate).

There has been a new library started, and I have been told there are around 150+ documents to be transferred over with the all the contract information on the front page to be updated.

Now the question is, with the documents I could request all new numbers from the client, and start from scratch Rev 01 etc.
Or would it be incorrect to resubmit the document with the current client number, but have the new company number and have it in our system at Rev # (continuation from the previous library) and note in the metadata "Previous Rev information can be found in library X?

I have a feeling starting from Rev 1 is the best way, but I was hoping I could fast track it.

    Thanks in advance.

Why not? Seems the simplest option, right?

Does your client expect to see revision history between whatever is now and what the next revision is under the new contract? What might you lose if you restart at rev 1 (not saying it's the worst option, just tossing out some thought ticklers)

    Thank you for the responses.

The client doesn't need to see revision history from one rev to another.

Starting from Rev 1 could be the best go, It's cleaner and request the client to supersede the previous numbers.
