    Dear All,
    I have just joined this forum. I am very impressed with very experienced comments and high quality of knowledge sharing.
    I want to know how to comply with clause 9.1.1. I was thinking of taking up some different metrics and decide - What, Which method, When, Analysis of Results.
    Please give your expert advise.
    Thanks

    Welcome! When you say "different metrics", what are you thinking?

    The standard is fairly straightforward. Consider driving a car. You monitor your fuel consumption on your journeys, say to and from work. You measure distance vs quantity of fuel used. You perform an analysis over a number of weeks/months and eventually you evaluate the results and maybe come to a (risk-based) conclusion that you should get a more economical car or take public transport (if available) or you decide to keep the car you have because the cost is acceptable.

    Thanks for your explanation Mr. Nichols.
    I was thinking of adding Quality Objectives here.

    Yes, of course! Otherwise, there's no point in doing the other things...

    Clause 9.1.1 supports the requirement of clause 4.4.1c. The two clauses apply to:
    • monitoring of quality objectives;
    • verifying conformity of products and services;
    • monitoring of performance of processes (e.g. stability, capability, variations);
    • measurement system analysis (e.g. repeatability, reproducibility, linearity);
    • monitoring of performance of external providers;
    • employee performance appraisal;
    • inspection of products at various production stages;
    • inspection of workplace;
    • monitoring of customer perception/satisfaction;
    • verifying conformity of QMS against the standard (i.e. internal audit);
    • reviewing the suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the QMS (i.e. management review);
    • the items in clause 9.1.3 a) to g);
    • and many others.

    Dear Mr.Nichols,
    The requirements are straight forward but whatever we write here will be repetition from somewhere else in QM.
    May be, I could not frame my query properly.
    I wanted to ask what uncommon parameters can be mentioned in 9.1.1 which will not be a repetition.
    Thanks

    Dear Mr. Tony,
    Yes you are absolutely right and I appreciate your view point which covers a wide range. But I would like not to repeat any characteristic already appearing somewhere.
    Thanks
