    Hello,

I have searched online for the automotive segment in which IATF 16949 applies, the only detail I found was that it applies to automobiles and motorcycles. Currently I am working for a company which produces electrical scooters. Are the Tier 1 suppliers of a scooter producer obliged to have IATF 16949 certification?

    Thank you!

Who are your customers? Do they require it or are subscribing members?

    Hello,

Our customers are the end-users, the ones that purchase the scooters.

I rather doubt you'd qualify. I don't have the rules, but when you really look at IATF, it's for parts manufacturers. Do you actually make parts or simply assemble the scooters from kits etc?

You are OEM and you can demand it, but it does not automatically result in your suppliers are IATF 16949 certified.
It can result in you have no suppliers, as IATF 16949 is very demanding and not all companies found it economically reasonable to implement its requirements.

Are your scooters used over the road. Then you may be able to require it. If not road vehicles, then no IATF. Expect pushback from your suppliers. IATF isn't easy and is probably unnecessary.
