We are wanting to start a vision program for persons performing product inspections but not sure who we should contact. Do company's use standard eye doctors that they send their employees too annually? Does it not need to be a certified eye doctor to perform the exam? Any info would helpful. Thanks.

It's going to be dependent upon the actual task, I believe, Robert. If we're talking about a simple eyesight check before being assigned to an inspection, and check for visual acuity (https://www.aoa.org/healthy-eyes/vision-and-vision-correction/visual-acuity?sso=y ) then I'd say, yes.

However, there are other tests (you may be familiar with), for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishihara_test

As Andy said, there is more to qualifying a visual inspector than a basic vision test. Consider the following at a minimum:
    • Visual acuity
    • Color perception/blindness
    • Pattern recognition
    • Perceptual speed and accuracy
    • Attention to detail

It is just visual acuity and every five years a check for color blindness. So I will just talk to local Optometrist offices to see if we can contract them for this. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
