    Hello everybody.

hope you can help me in the follow:

Our company is certified in IATF 16949.

Our Certification Audit was on Dec 2019
Our Surveillance Audit supposed to be on Dec 2020 but due Covid was re scheduled on April 2021.

We received an email from our certification body confirming that the Recertification audit would be in 2022 and confirmed that our expiration date was moved from February 2022 to August 2022.

Today we received another email from our Certification body demanding that the Recertification audit must be on December 20021 due IATF Rules.

Do you know if there is anyting we can do?? since we plan the certification audit for 2022, also our company will have a shout down on december.

    Hope the information is clear.

    Thank you

I'm guessing they want to make sure that you don't get off track with your re-certification date, but it sounds like they made a scheduling error and are making you suffer for it. I know there are different rules for how far out you can go on your audit, depending on the type of audit. I would reach out to the program manager of your CB (certification board) and ask if there is any way to delay it, if possible based on the snafu on their part. I've had very similar issues with our registrar where they say one thing and blast us with a last minute change. I think that's very unfair of them and not a very good business practice if they want to continue certifying for companies.

I would tell them they caused the issue and to which IATF rules they are referring - have them copy the exact wording. I would also copy your email to the IAOB management - Cherie Reiche is the person, I believe, to let them know what's going on.

Thank you so much Andy and qmr1976!!

    One last question,

As your experience, do you recommend talking to her first or copy her on the email that we will send to our CB.

    Thank again!

The conversation with Cherie should probably take place outside of speaking with your CB, so as not to cause conflict with your CB. Obviously, you need to know what your recourse is at that point, but find all of that out before going back to your CB. No need to involve them until you absolutely have to.

Yes! That is a popular phrase for them.....which to be honest, I don't even know how much weight that actually holds. We've had our certificate suspended before, and it was business as usual. The only issue would be if a customer specifically asked to see your updated certificate.
