Not according to ISO/TC 176, who show models (in ISO 9004 I believe) of processes which cross departments, as do most of the core processes in most businesses.

Can you give some background to this, too? For some places, it IS a full-time job!

We have a team of 40 internal auditors (that we trained in house) and we rotate them on a monthly basis. We are working to train more so we can continue to conduct audits in an effective way. Our current audit schedule is that we audit 1 process a month. Since we have 9, we have a little bit of room in case something happens during a specific month.

We like to do very in-depth internal audits on each department. :)

That may be the case - I used to be a full time Internal Auditor - but regardless, HR processes do belong in the QMS; the described activities could very well be processes (inputs transformed into outputs). They need monitoring as part of the support activities that are implemented to assist in ensuring customer satisfaction.

I also agree. I just wanted to confirm that my thinking was correct. To me, with our HR the way it is, it actually handles a process level issue. I have suggested that our company include them as a process in our QMS. Thank you everyone for the help!

I believe the post says "processES" not singular.

That isn't what I said. I said HR is a department, and their activities (inputs transitioned into outputs with activities and resources) could very well be processes. I also said it belongs in the QMS.

Actually, human resources are the people that make up the workforce of an organization. HR processes include hiring, training, performance appraisal, managing of compensation, managing of the competency needs, etc. It's just common that we call the function or department that manages these processes as "HR".
