Working in a small start up and just got handed the Quality Manager title....there was no incumbent. We've begun pursuing 9001-2015 registration with the help of a 3rd party contractor. My only qualification for this is I happen to be the only one that has ever worked in an ISO company before:eek:.

It's a small company with maybe 5-6 fun time employees.

This forum has been very helpful, and I'm sure will get a lot of use.

    Thanks in advance

Craig, all the best for your certification journey ! Please keep sharing any issues or any learning during this journey. I believe ISO 9001:2015 now provides enough flexibility as to what should be documented. The entire approach is risk based. You decide the activities and control based on the risk you anticipate !

Welcome aboard the QFO!!! I will be off for a few days due to Stage 1 TS16949 and transition to ISO9001:2015. Hoping that I could share lessons learned when I get back.

The one thing that I have notice in this new Risk-based internal auditing is that: I am reporting findings thatcatches attention of top management because it impacts their objectives (posted in another thread) .

Thanks everyone. I did work for a very large company when we went from no certification to ISO 9000 back in the mi 90s. I was involved a little in some of the aspects of that and did get certified as an auditor, but that was a very long time ago. We meet with the contractor next week for our first gap analysis. One thing I have seen is that the new standard seems to be much less cumbersome that I remembered the old one being. We are very small and will be making are first commercial product in a few months.

Could be, however, it could also be that was the perception at the time! Your "contractor" (consultant?) may still be in that time warp, so be careful! Your perception IS the reality!
