    Hi,

Our company is not certified with ISO 9001, but my facility is. Our parent company performs a few critical audits on equipment maintenance, retention of records and infection control techniques. Would it be appropriate to use their audit results to satisfy our requirement for internal audits?

My thought was to take their raw data and do further investigation against the applicable ISO clauses to complete an audit report that would be the same as our audit reports developed by our internal audit team. Essentially we would be outsourcing the process observation to corporate but reviewing the audit results by an ISO expert.

    Would this be satisfactory?

When you ask the question, "Would this be satisfactory", in what context are you asking? Are you asking if this approach meets ISO 9001:2015 requirements, 9.2 for an internal audit program? There's nothing in 9.2 which talks to this. Does it help your management system and do your management understand what's reported, then take action because they see value in what's reported? In other words, is this approach effective?

Can you demonstrate the corporate auditors are competent? Do they demonstrate objectivity? Are the audits they do to a fixed schedule each period, using the same audit criteria and the same objectives? Are the activities in the scope of the QMS? Like infection control (is that quality related in ISO 9001?)

Or, are you asking if a CB auditor will accept this approach, as you describe? No-ones knows. If it's important that you know, find out if your CB would have a problem, then check their answer by asking your auditor. If they disagree, find a new auditor - or even a new CB!
