Conflict Minerals

    At the moment many of my clients are having Conflict Mineral requests from customers. Most of my businesses are small engineering companies that purchase their raw materials from UK stockists and not even the Mills. As much as I understand the reasoning behind the request, I’m not too sure what a difference we making completing long winded excel spreadsheets or does this just tick a box for the larger companies to say they have done there bit and passed it on through the supply chain. So is this really the best way forward or is there a better solution.

    Most likely. It's a long established protocol that the buyers get to flow down stuff, without actually being selective about the application. I'm seeing it with other "peripheral" requirements, such as the VDA's "TISAX" and information security of prototypical parts. It's borderline ridiculous, but hey...
