I am thinking of limiting the scope to our aerospace customer base only. I cannot see any downside to this. Thoughts?

Typically, according to the (ISO 9001) requirements the scope should describe products, services etc. If you intend to add a modifier such as "for the aerospace market/sector..." that's fine. If you product has applications outside of aerospace, why limit yourself?
