This has likely been discussed before...apologies.

The 5ed to 'Zero Acceptance Number Sampling Plans,' published in 2008 but updated in 2011, included sampling plan updates in the 2011 version (https://asq.org/quality-press/display-item?item=H1331)--I can't identify the reasons specified for the updates, however.

In analyzing the old numbers, the LTPDs within each AQL index across all lot sizes seem to be congruent (plus or minus)

Page xii explains the reason for 2 sampling tables -- 1a and 1b. The 3rd printing of the 5th edition carries both tables, 1 of which was modified from its original form by a "large aerospace manufacturer" who changed several sample sizes.
