    Hi guys,

This may be a silly question, but I'd like some clarity (not sure if this is the right forum, apologies if it is not).

How do you know if you can be certified to an ISO standard. e.g. I know a company can be certified to ISO 9001. However ISO 9000 is the vocabulary and you can't seek certification against that. Likewise ISO 9002 is the consultants standard so to speak and its just for reference.

    Thanks in Advance!

Look on the ISO website and do a search on an ISO standard. It will say, I believe if it's intended for certification. Like ISO26000:

Can you get certified for ancient standards?
I have a customer who insists on an ISO 9002 certificate...

No, because they have been withdrawn from use and the Certification Body's scope of accreditation will be for the most recent version. I'm interested to know why a customer would be so badly informed they'd ask for 9002! ;)

    why...
let's not get into that kind of silly questions, shall we?

Although my favorite solution would be to jump in a TARDIS and get them the requested certificate yesterday, I will probably just use a polite blank stare and give them our 9001
