Our company is interested in knowing if there are any rules / standards around eating not being allowed in the manufacturing area of medical products? While the rule is in place that it is forbidden, we were hoping to link it with a specific set of known rules.

Depending on the environment in the area, you may find issues with OSHA compliance as well...not hurting the products, but risking harm to the employees...

This is usually in the context of potentially ingesting harmful chemicals/materials that may be used in the area. Review your MSDS sheets for all chemicals used in the area for any that would be harmful if ingested.

Miner is correct in all but the extra "M".
The use of the term "MSDS" is becoming a way to determine someone's age...
GHS worldwide, and OSHA's Hazcom 2012 has removed this term...it is now just "SDS" (along with all of the other additional requirements).

I consult now (engineering), and have yet to enter a facility anywhere close to compliance.

In the Belgian "Codex" (lawbook on health and safety requirements) it is stipulated that eating at your workplace can only be allowed in certain situations ... (if you think it is helpful for your situation, I could provide you with a translation of that section)
