thank you for your information. Auditor didn't write nonconformity and OFI. It was only a note. But we weren't sure may it be a problem for us for another audit. that's why I try to understand the issue. But the comments about our laboratory's calibrated conditions it is clearer for me.

When our Internal auditor issues an OFI the manager of the process where it was issued is required to review it thoroughly. Many times an internal auditor, rather than raise an NCR, issues an OFI instead. We know it happens. Our internal auditor training program covers it this way: if you are not certain it is an NC than issue an OFI. Out Top Manager wants NCRs to be raised because by doing so it reduces the risk of having an issue identified by the CB or during a customer audit.

We have found this method to be very effective and it is one reason why our processes, end to end, are efficient with almost perfect outputs from a product quality point of view.

If the auditor is not certain, then he/she doesn't need to raise it at all. See #47 post on this thread.

We want the auditor to record them as OFIs. It works for us.

Do your procedures have definitions for a nonconformity and an OFI? I'm just curious that you can just change the classification because your internal auditors are not certain.

Our auditors are fully trained and experienced. There's always the chance of being uncertain. We do classify the difference between OFI and NC.

I'd suggest they aren't fully competent, in that case. What criteria do they audit to?

Is that all? No wonder they don't know what's a non-conformity or not.

Then where do they differ? Do your internal auditors aware of the difference/s? Are they guided by a documented reference? Can you share your definitions of an NC and an OFI?
