    Hi there,
heard that the latest standard is out last month.
Anyone knows what's the big difference between old and latest versions?
    thanks!

Welcome aboard QFO. I cannot count the big difference between the 2 . Perhaps there are explicit requirements to some of the implied requirements of ISO/TS16949. Anyway attached is a presentation from the last Quality Summit Meeting of AIAG. I hope it is OK to share it with you as you prepare to transition to the new standard.

Happy reading. The yellow stars means enhancement; the blue are carryover from the previous standard and the red are new requirements.

As I read it, basically a lot more detail. A lot more you need to do it "this way." Not a lot of "as applicable." Going to be difficult for smaller organizations to apply the resources to comply. It's really a big tier 1 & 2 document, imho.

I agree. However my understanding is that we can make exclusion. The PPAP documents will make center stage for TIER 1 and TIER 2 suppliers..

Agree. For Tier 3 whether there's a necessity.

The BIG difference? It's a separate document from ISO 9001!

Look at Customer Specific Requirements along with the new IATF 16949.

Indeed:). However, breaking away from ISO by the IATF may result to companies sliding back to where the authors of ISO/TS 16949 wanted to avoid before i.e. "multiple certification audits".:(

In practice it won't, Tony. The new IATF requirements are additional to ISO 9001 and a CB will issue 2 certificates (if they are either asked or because they understand) one for the IATF 16949 and one for the ISO 9001:2015 requirements - but it's the same audit.

I hope CBs don't charge or charge much for the ISO 9001:2015 certificate.

As I recall duel certification would cost us an extra half audit day.

    This is an ANAB requirement
Other accreditation bodies might not require this
But ask the CB to justify their day count
All documents explaining man days are in the public domain, or the IATF rules or the mandated documents of the IAF

As of right now, the #1 thing I would encourage people to do is understand the timelines for transition.
The most impactful deadline is October 1st, 2017: after this date, CBs will no longer be auditing to ISO/TS 16949:2009 and will only be conducting them to the recently released IATF 16949:2016 standard.

    Thanks for the clarification
A lot of changes needs to be done in an organization system implementation
