IATF 16949 Scope on Certificate

    Can "pre-production" parts be included in an IATF 16949 QMS Certificate scope?

    Hmmm...,, not sure I understand what you mean by "covered" @Andy Nichols .

    Since Control Plan is an IATF requirement and a Control Plan is required for pre-production parts, then I guess the answer is "yes".

    - No (no coffee yet...only my tea).
    - Yes---IATF 16949 considers and applies to "pre-production" parts
    - I have never seen a certificate specifically list "pre-production" parts (?)

    And yes, I my cognitive abilities (i struggled spelling cognitive !!!!) are indeed lacking today...pending the aforementioned coffee ;)

    Exactly! The standard refers to production, service and/or accessory. I cannot see why "pre-production" would be mentioned and, if they are, indeed, "prototypes" they are not, by definition "production"...
