Many have found this useful so I wanted to share this.

We bubble all our drawings directly in Acrobat. For numbers 1-99, we use the Combinumerals font which I've attached. 1-19 are the top two LETTER rows starting with Q. 20-99 is simply the first number then <SHIFT> + the second number. For example, 22 would be 2@.

For three digit numbers, I created dynamic stamps that I've attached. I also created a circle and a small oval. The oval and circle stamps are equivalent to 18 pt font and the small oval is 14 pt. To use the dynamic stamps, save the attached in the following location:

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\<your version of acrobat>\Acrobat\plug_ins\Annotations\Stamps\ENU

    • If Acrobat is running, close and restart it.
    • Open the file you want to bubble.
    • Click the pull down arrow next to the “Stamp” button
    • Choose the circle or oval stamp under the “Bubble Stamp” category.
    • Click on the drawing where you want your bubble
    • A dialog box will pop up, put the number you want in the circle
    • Hit Ok

And here are automatic ones that I got from Seth over at CMM Guys that I edited for my purposes. The Circle will start with 1 and with every click will fill with the next number. The oval starts at 100 and does the same thing. The red one starts at 1.

    Very handy.

But it begs the question - if everyone is going to bubble the prints anyway, WHY ISN'T DESIGN DOING IT???? Then, we would all have the same bubble numbers ....

(Clouding the issue with logic, I am).

    Hi Tabor
Thanks for the balloons, I am using Red_Circle for a few months now, its awesome!
Now I am trying to put some other dynamic balloons in the same folder
but Adobe is only willing to accept Red_Circle as dynamic-
All other balloons are not interactive- they are pasted as is.
    Any idea why??
    Thanks a bunch :)

    Hi,

This works fine with adobe acrobat dc pro. I am trying to get it to work on adobe reader dc, however get the following javascript error and the numbers don't increment:

NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.
    Info.StampCount:9:App Text1:Calculate

Will this only work with dc pro and not the reader? Any ideas please?

    HI,
Is it possible to create a dynamic stamp or other way to create numbered circle with arrow, like this one:

This works on Acrobat Reader too.
The original one try to save the last Balloon number on the metadata of the pdf file, but Acrobat Reader cannot write on the metadata.
The new one save the last Balloon number on a global variable.

    Enjoy
