    You don't need one. If you do one just lay out a few blurbs about your company, your scope, quality policy, etc. Then just include a clause matrix showing where each ISO clause is dealt with in your company. Good luck.

    That's NOT a determination anyone here can make! It may not be required by ISO 9001, but who knows if the OP has determined that one is a "needs and expectations" of an "interested party"? In some sectors, customer require a quality manual. It's a dangerous statement to make without ascertaining if the OP has considered any needs...

    It is better to write your quality manual with your own description than to borrow from somebody else's description of their QMS. Since 2015 has no requirement for a QM, you may use the 2008 requirements for a QM. Clause 4.2.2 of the 2008 version requires organizations to include in the their QM the following:
    a. scope of the QMS, and justification for any exclusion;
    b. documented procedures already established by the organization or reference to them;
    c. description of interaction between the processes of the QMS.
    In documenting the scope, you need to refer to clause 4.3 of the 2015 version. A high-level map of all the processes of the QMS (i.e. management, core and support) can satisfy 4.2.2c. You can also provide brief narrative descriptions of the QMS processes. To satisfy 4.2.2b, instead of incorporating your procedures into your QM, you can just mention them as references. The reference procedures can be annotated below each of the narrative description of your QMS processes.

    Actually I just made it. You don't need one. It's a waste whether a "customer" wants it or not.

    That's because most people don't know what a good manual looks like and it's NOT a waste. I do know, and those I have given my template to, love it.

    Customers "want" a lot of things that are utterly useless. I have a colleague in automotive that refuses to do anything that doesn't add value. This, no quality surveys and the like. He has more business than he can handle because he is the best at what they do.

    Good for him. That's a unique situation in manufacturing. There's a ton of "me too" companies out there. Frankly, the time it take to produce a proper quality manual is shorter than this debate. If the customer (and the organization) want one, just do it!

    I kept the manual from 2008, deleting everything and just kept what tony suggested(scope, processes, procedures)
    I chose in this way instead of eliminate it and have to create separately those mentioned by Tonys.
    Because they have to be documented.
    Hope this helps

    I just overhauled ours the other day and is now being reviewed by the president to sign off on. In the old one, the person who did it, took EVERY last word in the 2008 standard and made statements on how we comply. Also a lot of other useless crap was added in.

    Mine is simple, 5 pages.

    Cover page with signatures by top management
    Index page with our current organizational chart
    Scope, applicability (including a statement of design exemption), and responsibility
    The quality policy (in full)
    A narrative descriptions of the QMS and a list of all QMS procedures

    -I did not add a process interaction map, because there is not one! I am currently developing process flow diagrams for each process here and will make a value stream map / process interaction map when I am done.

    Since there are no requirements for quality manual, it's okay to leave that out, for now...

    All manuals should be referenced. Give the reader a clue what it's about in the title.
